The Prisons We Create

Many of my clients speak to me about themselves and their families and how angry they all are about how life has "turned out". People become trapped in the choices they have made and continue to live in these "prison of choices". The first step to realizing the "prison" really has no bars is that each of these choices that was made has another side to it ... there are many choices at any given moment. Although we cannot change the choices we made in the past, we can learn from them and begin to choose differently at every moment. I didn't say it would be easy but it is the possibility of choosing life in a new way. Sometimes before being able to choose differently we must first clean-up the choices from our past simply by forgiving that at the time that is the best we could do and now we want to do better for ourselves, our children and our loved ones. Then we, ourselves, will be able to break down our own prison walls that our choices built up around us in the first place. In the end it is worth all of the effort even though the road can be tiring.

With love,
